AJK President, Prime Minister, others condole veteran medico Dr. Salim Nizami’s demise

MIRPUR (AJK),  (ZNN TV)  : Azad Jammu Kashmir State President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi and AJK minister for information, law and justice Sardar Faheem Akhter Rubbani have expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the demise of Britain-based veteran Kashmir-born medico Dr. Salim Nizami.

In their separate messages of condolence issued late Friday the AJK leaders prayed for the rest of the departed soul in eternal peace and grant of fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the loss with courage

Illustrious Dr. Salim Nizami, (83), (Retd) Registrar / Head of Accident and Emergency Whiston Hospital Merseyside (United Kingdom) had died yesterday after brief illness and was laid to rest lat Friday in local graveyard in Merseyside (Liverpool).

Dr. Nizami, originally hailing from Jammu city (now Indian occupied) and presently from Mirpur Azad Jammu Kashmir had breathed his last after brief illness after suffering covid-19 pandemic besides for being chronic diabetic patient.

Hundreds of people hailing from various segments of the society including from medical fraternity, UK-based Pakistani and Kashmiri Diaspora community, family members and friends attended the funeral prayer besides visiting his residence at Rainhill to offer fateha for the departed soul.

He left behind a son – Dr. Adeel and a widow in his survivors.

Late Dr. Salim Nizami was the eldest son of an illustrious worker of Pakistan and Kashmir freedom movement, elderly Kashmiri writer journalist and intellectual Late Abdul Hamid Nizami, eldest brother of veteran journalist and Retd. Director News PTV Late Mumtaz Hamid Rao, senior Kashmiri journalist Altaf Hamid Rao.

Others who expressed shock over the demise of Dr. Nizami include AJK govt. Information Secretary Mrs. Midhat Shehzad, Director General Public Relations AJK government Raja Azhar Iqbal, Retd. Chief Justice of AJK Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, Retd. Secretary Electricity AJK Engr. Muhammad Iqbal Rattayal, Commissioner Mirpur Division Ch. Muhammad Raqeeb, Deputy Commissioner Ch. Amjad Iqbal and other senior AJK Government and the city elite representing various walks of life.

They visited the local residence of his brother senior Kashmiri journalist Altaf Hamid Rao and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family besides praying for the rest of the departed soul in heaven.
