Nida Dar Shines as Pakistan women thrash West Indies in rain-hit fixture

HAMILTON: Pakistan women’s national team on Monday defeated West Indies women comprehensively by eight wickets in a rain-hit World Cup fixture – thanks to Nida dar’s career best performance.
In a match delayed by over five hours due to rain and a wet outfield, and subsequently reduced to 20-overs-a-side, Pakistan’s spinners made merry to restrict West Indies to 89 for 7. Nida Dar’s career-best ODI figures of 4 for 10 did most of the damage to West Indies, on a Seddon Park surface where run-making wasn’t easy.
In reply, Pakistani batswomen were solid like a rock, as they chased the total down with seven balls to spare. Muneeba Ali remained top-scorer with 37 (43), while skipper Bisma Maroof remained not-out at 20 (29). Omaima Sohail scored calm 22 of 27.
