US Election 2020: Painful wait for America as election results yet to be finalised

WASHINGTON/WILMINGTON: Things remain extraordinarily tense in the United States of America, where vote counts from the election conducted on Tuesday were still not finalised early Friday.

The world’s attention has been focused on the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and Nevada, where extremely tight races between the two presidential candidates have prevented the declaration of any one as winner yet. The difference between the two is as low as 0% (around 1,400 votes) in the state of Georgia, where US President Donald Trump’s early lead has been steadily eroded as the vote tally reaches its conclusion.

Likewise in Pennsylvania, a key state with 20 electoral college votes, Trump’s early lead has been whittled down to a mere 0.3 points margin over Biden with many votes yet to be counted.
